@radoraf; The power to tax, yes, but not the power to tax “luxuries”. The Federal government cannot be trusted to make decisions on what’s good for me.
I don’t need the government to tell me how to live, above my means or not, and no one else should either.
Also, my point about the 32% is that lower and middle class people WILL be hit by taxes to come, especially since the Obama administration has left the question of a “value added” tax (which affects everything) wide open.
@itachi705 They are going to go up for people who make $250,000. They will go up because bush gave cuts that DIDN’T WORK. His tax cuts happened before the financial crisis. His plan obviously did NOTHING except give tax breaks to the rich. Now the claim is that taxes are going up for everyone when it’s just the $250,000 that had their taxes lowered. Daily Kos isn’t something I’m familiar with. Now that you have been corrected, you can run off now.

The government, has the power to tax. Last time I checked anyway. I sure have no problem with it taxing smoking and tanning beds. Your quality of life won’t suffer without these, that’s why they are luxuries. It’s not like these 32% were mandated to smoke. If they want to sue for unfairness, they ought to look at the tobacco companies. I’m telling you, a lot of us don’t realize it, but we live way above our means.
